Microsoft is reportedly in planning stages to release new version of Office for Mac
According to a MacWorld report, software giant Microsoft apparently has plans underway to launch a new version of Office for the Mac. The said version has largely been ignored by the company after the launch of its subscription service, Office 365.
With the most recent version of Office for Mac currently being an edition from 2011, Microsoft had originally planned to launch a new Office for Mac version in spring 2014. However, that timeline has seemingly being pushed back now, as the company is presently in the planning stages of new Office for Mac.
About Microsoft’s current position on a new Office for Mac version, Thorsten Hübschen – Microsoft Office chief in Germany – has revealed in a statement that the company is working on a number of Office versions for the Mac in development.
Hübschen also said that Mac users will get to know about further details about Office for Mac in the 2014 second quarter.
Meanwhile, noting that the Microsoft Office team in “hard at work on the next version of Office for Mac,” a representative for the company said in an email. “While I don’t have details to share on timing, when it’s available, Office 365 subscribers will automatically get the next Office for Mac at no additional cost.”
